1950s Pepsi Ads
Modern refreshment is Light refreshment.
Again this season's style news proves that fashion's not half so fickle as they say. She is still stressing the slender waistline, and probably always will.
So no wonder the modern woman has learned to prefer lighter, less filling food and drink - to the advantage of her health as well as her looks.
And no wonder Pepsi-Cola is more popular than ever. It's kept in step with modern fashion, modern taste. Today's Pepsi is never heavy, never too sweet, reduced in calories.
It's the modern, the light refreshment. Refresh without filling. Have a Pepsi.

Modern design in Light refreshment
Today's active, attractive people have a design of their own for everyting - including a modern design for eating. the lighter food and drink they favor work magic for their figures, Pepsi-Cola goes along with this modern diet, too. Today's Pepsi, reduced in calories, is nevery heavy, never too sweet. Refresh without filling - always say "Pepsi, please."

The Sociables prefer Pepsi
They entertain the modern way and they serve the modern refreshment: Pepsi-Cola. It refreshes without filling. You're one of The Sociables. Have a Pepsi anywhere - at play, at home or at your favorite soda fountain.
Be Sociable, Have a Pepsi
Refresh without filling.

1949 Television Taboos
This is an amazing article from 1949 discussing the taboos of Television, a time when Television was still capitalized and married couples couldn't be seen sleeping in the same bed.
I can't help but think if some of these were still considered "taboo" we'd be a much better society!

1930's Avant Garde shoes
Steven Arpad (1904–1999), a French shoe designer, experimented with shoe design in 1939 and produced many avant-garde pieces. His shoes are featured in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and exist as some of the only records of his designs as he worked anonymously under various fashion houses. The shoes are modern, weird, current and many look as if they just came off the runways of New York Fashion Week! Browse the museum’s collection of Steven Arpad’s shoes: Metropolitan Museum of Art – Steven Arpad. The shoes below are my favorite of the 70+ designs.

etsy roundup - autumn
There is definitely a chill in the air! I just LOVE this time of year. Alabama had a very mild winter, no spring and a hot summer, so I'm ready for it to cool off for a good while. I thought I'd share some wonderfully vintage pieces all reflecting the beautiful colors of fall!
